When trying to decide which font to use for your website, the process can feel like choosing which is the best car or house to buy. There are so many choices, each with their own benefits, so how do you know which is best for your company?
The key for any Web font is to make sure it’s easy to read. If your readers have to start straining their eyes or have to guess which letters are being used, they will leave your website fast.
To learn more, we asked Fahrenheit Marketing’s Web designer, Brian Yom, about the fonts he likes to use for our clients and why he chooses those. Here’s what he had to say:
Because we build websites or online campaigns for most of our clients, I like to use Web safe fonts like Google fonts or CSS Web-safe fonts such as:
- Georgia
- Palatino
- Times New Roman
- Arial
- Lucida Sans Unicode
- Tahoma
- Verdana
Google fonts are supported by Google and CSS Web-safe fonts come with any operating system, so both are free.
For certain clients, we use some premium fonts, which we pay to use. For example, we used “Cooper Black” for SwooperDeal. The main reason we used a premium font was that we needed to build a new branding for that project. Unless our client needs a unique font for its branding, we use free Web-safe fonts for most projects.
I enjoy using Arial because it’s Web safe, and it’s been used online and offline for a long time, so people are familiar with it, which makes it easy to read.
